Difference between 冷 vs 凉

Let’s take a look at two Chinese characters that are quite similar in meaning: 冷 lěng vs 凉 liáng. While studying Chinese, you may have noticed sentences like

今天的天气很凉。
今天的天气有点冷。

Luckily the distinction between 冷 and can easily be made. 冷 simply means cold and 凉 means cool.
凉 is used to indicate that the temperature is cool and that it may not necessarily feel uncomfortable.
Whereas 冷 indicates that the temperature is lower than 凉 and definitely makes you feel uncomfortably cold.
